Samsung unveiled six new monochrome laser printers targeted at small and medium businesses following on the heels of CES 2011 including three multi-function and three single function models.

Today, we’ll be taking a hands-on first look at the ML-3712nd, the single-function model sandwiched between the budget friendly ML-3312nd and the ML-3712dw.

The ML-3712nd and ML-3712dw are nearly identical models with one key difference; for an additional $50, users can get built-in wireless functionality with the ML-3712dw.

So take a quick look at the ML-3712 series now and make sure you come back next week to read the full review!

The Samsung ML-3712nd is fairly plain looking with a boxy build and a two tone gray design. On the plus side, it’s compact with the approximate dimensions of 14 x 15 x 10 inches.

The ML-3712nd is designed to be an affordable model for small and medium sized businesses, so it doesn’t offer many “gimmicky” features. The control panel is a great example of the bare bones attitude the ML-3712nd gives off. It offers a 2 line LCD, four directional navigation and three quick keys (the only in color being the red cancel/stop key).

But what the ML-3712nd lacks in show, it makes up for in functionality. It features a 250-sheet paper cassette, a 50-sheet multi-purpose tray, 150-sheet output bin and automatic duplexing. For businesses with a high print volume, Samsung offers optional cassettes taking the overall paper capacity up to 820 sheets.

The ML-3712nd also offers a 600-MHz Dual Core processor with expandable memory up to 384MB and three levels of toner replacement cartridges: the standard capacity 2,000 page yield, the high capacity 5,000 page yield and the extra high capacity 10,000 page yield.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the ML-3712nd can be used as a personal printer on a desk with the Hi-Speed 2.0 USB connection or as a networked printer via the Ethernet connection. And as we mentioned earlier, businesses that would like wireless connectivity can upgrade to the ML-3712dw.

The Samsung ML-3712nd is available now through authorized retailers for the suggested retail price of $249. The Samsung ML-3712dw with wireless connectivity is also available through authorized retailers for the suggested retail price of $299.

Samsung offers three options for replacement toner cartridges at several authorized retailers nationwide. Get a standard capacity 2,000 page yield cartridge, the high capacity 5,000 page yield cartridge and the extra high capacity 10,000 page yield cartridge.

Samsung includes a 1-year warranty with the ML-3712nd.
