- Good text quality
- Great rear paper path
- Decent print speeds for budget-friendly printer
- One line display
- Not compatible with 105XL cartridge
- No photo software
The Lexmark Interpret is a surprisingly good budget-friendly printer. Would I recommend it as a laser replacement in an office environment? No. But the Interpret would fit well in a home office, as a desktop replacement in a small business, or in a dorm room. In fact, if Lexmark offered the $4.99 105XL cartridge for the Interpret, I couldn’t imagine a better printer for a college student.
Sure, the print speeds weren’t as fast as advertised, but the Interpret has a suggested price of $129.99 and prints as fast as the Lexmark Prestige. The photo quality might not be as sharp as other photo printers on the market, but they are good enough for photo albums, frames or scrapbooking. And the Interpret offers a 35-sheet ADF, Wi-Fi and three-year limited warranty, something you’ll be hard-pressed to find on new printers in this class.
The Lexmark Interpret may not have received a PrinterComparison.com Editor’s Choice distinction, but if Lexmark continues to improve on its inkjet line at the rate they’ve shown during the past year, the next generation may well receive our top honor. I would definitely recommend the Interpret to anyone looking for a solid, budget-friendly inkjet printer.
