The Lexmark C790 series was first announced in late 2010, but our first look at the C792de single function color laser printer was at CES 2011 during a private suite meeting this past January.

The C792de is targeted at medium and large workgroup and departments with fast print speeds, easy workflow solutions, a large paper capacity and several paper finishing options.

Today, we’ll be sharing our full review of this versatile device; read on to find out if it might be the perfect fit for your office.

  • Connectivity: Ethernet, USB

As we mentioned above, the single function C792de is targeted at larger workgroups and offices so the C792de is really meant to sit on a desktop (although I currently have the C792de on a desk next to me). The dimensions are approximately 20 x 22 x 20 inches and it weighs in just over 110 lbs without consumables. I definitely had to ask a co-worker to help me get the C792de settled out of the box.

The C79de features a 4.3-inch color touchscreen with a front side USB port for easy navigation of the multiple workflow solutions and shortcuts offered with the device.

Since the C792de offers print speeds up to 50 pages per minute, it’s helpful that the C782de comes standard with a large paper capacity standard to keep up with those print speeds. The C792de has a 500-sheet output bin on top of the printer, a 100-sheet multi-purpose feeder found on the left side and a 550-sheet paper drawer that pulls out from the front.

With a large 150,000 page monthly duty cycle, users can add an additional 550-sheet drawer and a 2,000 sheet high capacity feeder for a total paper capacity of 3,200 sheets. There are also several finishing options including a 500-sheet offset stacker, 500-sheet staple finished and 500-sheet staple punch finisher as well as a 5-bin mailbox.

Access the toner cartridge easily by pulling open the front panel beneath the control panel. lexmark includes four standard capacity CMYK toner cartridges (average yield of 6,000 pages) with the C792de as well as offering an extra high yield CMYK toner cartridge (average yield of 20,000 pages).

As far as connectivity, the C792de offers both a built-in Ethernet port and a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port on the back of the device.

The C792de is Energy Star qualified with several environmentally friendly features including instant warm-up fuser, automatic duplexing and energy saving eco mode.
