CONCLUSION

The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One is definitely a useful machine; it offers users the ability to print, scan, copy and fax with multiple computers, one computer or zero computers. More importantly, it does all of these things well. But the real question is this: will the Officejet Pro 8500 replace your current laser print seamlessly? And can it really save you money?

My answer is maybe. The Officejet Pro 8500 can deliver laser quality prints but at much slower speeds than your typical laser printer. The Officejet Pro 8500 is much cheaper than any comparable laser printer and it could save you money on your energy bill but will that make up for the extra ink costs over the long run?  No doubt about it, inkjet cartridges aren’t as efficient as toner cartridges.

Here’s the bottom line: the Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless does many things well and it is very easy to use. I think it could be an excellent addition to a home office but if you want laser quality prints, laser quality speed, AND the laser cartridge cost per print, you may want to buy an actual laser printer.
