The Epson WorkForce 845 replaces the previous generation inkjet, the WorkForce 840. Epson added four new AIO WorkForce products to the lineup this past October with the Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) market in mind. The WorkForce 845 offers the most in terms of raw power, functionality and features out of the four all-in-one devices announced in October.

The WorkForce 845 features black print speeds of up to 15 ppm and color print speeds of up to 9.3 ppm. It has a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440 (optimized dpi), two sided printing, holds 4 toner cartridges, and supports a multitude of memory cards and media types. The device can hold up to 500 sheets of paper in total and has user-definable paper size capabilities – meaning it can handle paper up to 8.5 x 44-inches in size.

Check out our First Look review of the WorkForce 845 that will include a ton of product photos, specs, design, and its pricing and availability.

The Epson WorkForce 845 stands somewhat taller than most other SOHO inkjets we get in for review; this is due in part to its high-volume paper handling and the sizes of paper it can fit.

It can hold up to 500 sheets of paper in total – most other SOHO inkjets only hold around 250 sheets. Its approximate dimensions are 18 x 22 x 12-inches and is very lightweight for its size; it’s only 22 pounds. It has a mixture of glossy and black surfaces throughout, and has a number of silver accents.

The WorkForce 845 offers a handy 30-sheet automatic two-sided document feeder (ADF). This means users can copy, scan or fax two-sided documents hands-free. Lift under the ADF to reveal the 48-bit flatbed scanner with a maximum optical resolution of 2400 dpi and an interpolated resolution of 9600 dpi. The scanner fits up to the standard A4 paper size. Users can scan to their PC, PDF, email or to the memory card slot.

Lift up on either side directly under the scanner to reach the inner compartment of the WorkForce 845. The device works on a 4-toner system. It’s compatible with Epson 126 high-capacity black, magenta, yellow and cyan pigment ink. It’s also compatible with Epson 127 extra high-capacity ink.

At the center of the WorkForce 845 is the control panel. It has an extremely large color 7.8″ touch panel display with a 3.5-inch TFT screen. The only physical button is the on/off switch. Users can do virtually anything from the control panel, including fax, copy, scan and print photographs from it.

The memory card reader and flash USB slot are located on the left side of the device, directly below the control panel.

The memory card readers are compatible with so many types (24 in all) that we’re just going to name a few of the big ones: CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SD, SDHC, MMC, and xD-Picture Card.

The device has two input trays located on the bottom that can hold up to 500 sheets of paper. It can hold a variety of paper sizes, including 3.5 x 5, 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 8 x 10, 8.5 x 11, A4, B5, A5, A6, half letter, executive, and user definable (3.5 – 44 inches in length).  The maximum is 8.5 x 44 inches (large sizes, ADF only). Compatible media includes plain paper, brochure and flyer matte double sided, matte presentation paper, a variety of glossy photo paper (including ultra and premium types), transfer paper, No. 10 envelopes, bond paper, and air mail.
