BUILD AND DESIGN

The Canon PIXMA MP990 was the flagship of Canon’s most recent product announcement and you can tell when you open the box; it is sleek, good looking machine done in a mix of silver and black.  There is a small Pixma brand on the scanner lid and a small Canon logo on the self-opening paper output tray.

The MP990 features a 4800 dpi high-resolution CCD scanner with a detachable film adapter.  Lift the scanner lid and pop open the top to access the 35mm film scanner.  Users can also scan to network, scan to memory, and correct gutter shadows automatically.

The flip up control panel centers on the 3.8-inch LCD and Canon’s Easy Scroll Wheel; they are surrounded by 10 quick keys including two LCD navigators.

Lift the scanner unit to gain access to the inside of the machine, the print head, and the six individual ink cartridges: pigment black, cyan, magenta, yellow, photo black and gray.

The build-in memory card reader is compatible with SD Memory Card, SDHC, MultiMedia Card, MultiMediaCard Plus, USB flash drive, CompactFlash Card, Microdrive, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo.

The MP990 features two-way paper feeding: a fold out rear tray or a 150-sheet front loading cassette.  The MP990 also offers Canon’s self-opening paper output tray.

You’ll find all connection ports on the back left and right of the MP990.  This AIO offers Wireless LAN, Ethernet and USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connectivity while being compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Mac OS X (v10.3.9 to v10.5.x) operating systems.
