The Canon Pixma iP4820 single function photo printer is small and sleek with a glossy black exterior and a silver accent stripe around the top of the machine.  A small Canon logo is on the front of the self-extending output tray and a small Pixma logo is found on the top of the printer.

The dimensions of the Pixma iP4820 in storage are approximately 17 x 12 x 6 inches; in print mode, with the rear tray extended and the output tray open, the dimensions are closer to 17 x 21 x 12 inches.

Since the Pixma iP4820 is a single function device, it has a fairly simple design.  The rear tray folds into the top of the machine and is great for photo paper or envelopes but can hold media up to legal sized.

Pull the output tray down and lift the top up to access the inside of the machine.  Here users will install the five individual ink cartridges.  Canon supplies one PGI-225 pigment-based black ink cartridge and four CLI-226 dye-based color cartridges (CMYK).

To the right of the output tray is the Pixma iP4820’s mini control panel.  It consists of two buttons – power and resume/cancel – as well as a PictBridge port for printing photos without a PC.

At the bottom of the Pixma iP4820 is the 150-sheet paper cassette.  This adjustable cassette can hold media as small as A5 and as large as A4 but more commonly would be used to print letter sized documents.

All connections are found on the back of the printer.  The Pixma iP4820 is set up over a Hi-Speed USB connection but no cable is provided.
