When Canon announced its new office line of all-in-one inkjet printers at CES 2010, it also introduced the single function Canon Pixma iP2702. Next to the fancy Pixma MX870 and the durable Pixma MX350, the Pixma iP2702 might not pop, but it has a place in Canon’s lineup for a reason.

With a sleek black exterior, the Pixma iP2702 offers several of Canon’s top photo printer features including: borderless photo prints in less than 1 minute, a print resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, ChromaLife 100+ system with Canon FINE cartridges, and Canon’s Auto Photo Fix II for $50.

Today, we have a full review of the Canon Pixma iP2702.  Can a single function inkjet printer still be a valuable addition to your home or office? Read on to find out!

The Canon PIXMA iP2702 is the definition of a sleek, compact single function printer. The body is done in a sophisticated matte black with the folding rear tray in a glossy black. There is a small Canon logo on the front of the printer and a Pixma logo with the iP2702 model number above that.

The dimensions of the iP2702 are about 18 x 10 x 5 inches; with the rear tray up, the dimensions are closer to 18 x 12 x 10 inches. The unit weighs less than 8 pounds.

The Pixma iP2702 features a rear loading tray found by flipping open the glossy panel on the top of the printer. The iP2702 can print a variety of media, including photo paper, letter, legal and envelopes, and ranging in size from 4 x 6 inches to 8.5 x 11 inches.

The modest two button control panel is to the right of the paper tray, and it consists of a power button and an alarm button.

Lift the front of the unit up just under the Canon logo to access the inside of the printer. The iP2702 takes two Canon FINE cartridges, the Canon PG-210 black and the Canon CL-211 multicolor, which are included in the packaging. Users can also purchase high capacity cartridges, the PG-210 XL black and the CL-211 XL color.

The output is located beneath the Canon logo. There is no tray to catch documents or photos so the iP2702 needs to be set up on a desk or table with additional space.

The Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port and the power connection are on the back of the Pixma iP2702.
