The Canon imageCLASS MF8350cdn is a color multifunction laser with print, scan, copy and PC fax capabilities; so needless to say, it’s not a small printer.  The imageCLASS’ dimensions are approximately 19 x 19 x 17 inches and that’s not including the additional space you’ll need on top to open the scanner lid.  You can fit the imageCLASS MF8350Cdn on a desk but I must admit when I had the printer on my desk, it sort of cast a long shadow over all my things.

Also, I would not attempt to lift the Mf8350Cdn on your own unless you have considerable strength since this beast weighs about 65 lbs.

Looks wise, the MF8350Cdn screams office printer.  It has a professional copier image with a large control panel, a boxy build, gray and dark blue casing, and a simple Canon logo on the front of the multipurpose tray.

Working from the top, you’ll find the 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) on top of the MF8350Cdn’s scanner lid.  The ADF can copy or fax large documents with the press of a button.

Below the ADF resides the 24-bit color scanner.  With a maximum optical resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and interpolated resolution of 9600 x 9600 dpi, users can scan a host of documents and photos to any PC on the network or directly to a flash drive thanks to the front-side USB port.  Scan documents up to 8.5 x 11 inches on the flatbed scanner or 8.5 x 14 inches through the ADF.

Canon has also given the MF8350cdn a large control panel and a LCD with graphic display so that users can access animated on-screen instruction for more complex jobs.   There are several quick keys for gauging toner, instant copies in both black and color, and a fax speed dial along with the three main device access buttons: copy, scan and fax.

Below the LCD and control panel, you’ll find the previously mentioned front-side USB port for storing scans and copies to a flash drive or printing documents without a computer.

There are two paper trays on the MF8350Cdn: a 50-page multipurpose tray (not to be confused with the ADF) and a 250-sheet paper cassette.  The paper cassette is expandable to fit legal sized media and includes a legal size dust cover.

The imageCLASS MF8350cdn has built-in Ethernet for use over a network and features an embedded web server.  All connection ports are found on the back of the printer.
