Brother introduced four new all-in-one inkjet models targeted at the small office, home office market a few weeks ago just in time for the back-to-school frenzy.

Today, we’ll be sharing our full review of the flagship model of the new series, the MFC-J825dw. The MFC-J825dw is a 4-in-1 device with print, scan, copy and fax capability with print speeds up to 35 ppm, automatic duplexing, CD/DVD/Blu-ray printing, web-connected applications, 3.3-inch color touch screen and built-in memory card reader.

The MFC-J825dw design is unique in that it pulls different features from past models into a newly designed box done in a sleek, glossy black. It’s compact and light weight with approximate dimensions of 16 x 15 x 7 inches and weigh in just over 20 lbs with no consumables.

The 20-sheet ADF is recessed into the scan lid giving it that sleek look, but still allowing customers to copy, scan and fax multi-page documents up to 8.5 x 14 inches.

The 48-bit flatbed scanner can handle documents up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches with an optical scan resolution up to 2400 x 2400 dpi. Brother includes several “scan-to” features such as email, image, OCR, media cards, file and USB flash drive.

The control panel is centered on the 3.3-inch adjustable color touchscreen LCD with four device quick keys and an alpha-numeric key page flanking the LCD on the left and right sides, respectively.

Beneath the control panel, you’ll find the front side USB port and built-in memory card reader. Compatible media includes: SD, SDHC, MemoryStick, MemoryStick Pro, MemoryStick Pro Duo, PictBridge Interface and USB Flash Memory Drive.

The CD/DVD/Blu-ray print slot is also found in this area, look for the small CD icon. The removable print tray is stored separately.

To the right you’ll find the front loading ink system. The MFC-J825dw comes with four ink cartridges in the original packaging.

The MFC-J825dw offers a 100-sheet paper cassette and 20-sheet photo bypass tray. The paper cassette can handle a variety of media ranging in size from 3.5 x 5 inches up to 8.5 x 14 inches. The photo bypass tray is compatible with 4×6 photo paper.

All connections are found on the inside/back of the MFC-J825dw.
