Brother MFC-J6710dw Conclusion
Energy tests
The Brother MFC-J6710dw is Energy Star qualified and I found during my tests that it uses an average to a below average amount of energy compared to other AIO inkjets in its class.
Warm-up is quick and the highest spike I saw during that 30 second period was around 21W of energy before dropping into ready mode where the MFC-J6170dw is pulling about 6W of energy.
When printing black and white documents in the standard print mode, the MFC-J6710dw pulls 19-25W of energy. When printing in color, the printer’s speeds drop, but so does the energy use to a range of 13-23W of energy.
When the MFC-J6710dw is sleeping (the LCD is dark), the energy use is quite low, around 3W.
PROS
- A good array of business centric features
- 3-year warranty
- Front side USB port
CONS
- Photo printing issues
- Paper jams with thicker media
CONCLUSION
There are plenty of great things about the Brother MFC-J6710dw including a bevy of business features: a front side USB port, double paper trays, automatic duplexing, low energy use, extra high yield ink cartridges, 11.7 x 17 inch flatbed scanner and a 35-sheet ADF for $299.99.
And while I felt the MFC-J6710dw did a pretty good job with black and white printing, scanning, copying and faxing, I also believe that the lined photo printing and paper jams with thicker media could be a major setback for some businesses. My advice? Make sure you weigh the pros and cons in regards to your business needs before purchasing the Brother MFC-J6710dw.
