Overview

Brother unveiled four affordable multifunction inkjets in August for the small office, home office – the MFC-J280w, MFC-J430w, MFC- J625dw and MFC-J825dw – ranging in price from $99-$149.

The Brother MFC-J625DW is a compact wireless inkjet all-in-one (AIO) with print, scan, copy and fax capabilities. The J625DW has photo printing and features an adjustable 1.9-inch color TouchScreen LCD and duplex printing. The MFC-J625DW carries a price tag of $129.99.

Read on to find out more about the Brother MFP that really seems to have it all.

BUILD AND DESIGN

The design of the MFC-J625DW is very similar to the Brother MFC-J825dw (one of the other all-in-ones that was announced recently). It has a mixture of matte and sleek glossy surfaces and is all black aside from the silver accents on the lettering. It’s very compact and lightweight for all that it does, weighing in at 19.8 pounds and measuring in at 15.9 x 14.9 x 7.1-inches.

The 20-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) is located at the very top and folds out to automatically scan, fax, and copy media. It can fit up to 8.5 x 14-inch sizes.

The J625DW has a 36-bit color flatbed scanner with a maximum optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi. The J625DW allows users to print wirelessly using the Brother iPrint&Scan app from Apple, Android or Windows Phone 7 mobile devices. Users may also scan and save the file directly to a PC; other “scan to” options include scan to email, image, OCR, media card, file and USB flash drive.

Lift beneath the flatbed scanner to access the print head and (strangely enough) the USB printer cable connection. After you plug it in, you may tuck the cable into its proper place to close the device all the way.

The control panel spans the entire length of the device, with the fax, scan, copy and photo buttons on the left side, the LCD in the middle, and the alpha-numeric keypad on the right side. The adjustable color touchscreen LCD is 1.9 diagonal inches. Also located on the control panel are both stop/exit and black/color start buttons.

Underneath the control panel is a front side USB flash drive port to the left and two memory card readers to the right. The readers are compatible with SD, SDHC, MemoryStick, MemoryStick Pro, MemoryStick Pro Duo, and PictBridge.
