Western Digital (WD) announced today the addition of USB 3.0 interface to its line of My Passport Portable Hard Drives.  My Passport is WD's first USB 3.0 enabled portable hard drive for Macs and the device will look to offer increased speed and security for consumers.

In addition to the new USB 3.0 interface, My Passport has also had upgraded its maximum capacity to 2 TB, all while remaining sleek and easy to transport. According to Ralf San Jose director of product marketing for WD's consumer product group, the upgrades of the My Passport align perfectly with the growing needs of consumers for safe reliable portable storage; he explains:

"My Passport for Mac with USB 3.0 adds the convenience of a very fast USB connection that includes added security features that mobile consumers need when away from home. Adding all these benefits with an unmatched industry capacity of 2 TB provides the perfect solution for the demanding Mac customer."

My Passport for Mac USB 3.0 is compatible with the new versions of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The My Passport for Mac is currently available and comes with a 3-year limited warranty and is offered both on the WD store and at select retailers. As far as pricing is concerned WD has released the MSRP of $100 for the 500GB, $130 for the 1 TB and $200 for the 2TB versions.
