Conclusion

The AVADirect Clevo W230ST provides great performance at an affordable price. The more expensive Alienware 14 admittedly offers better build quality and a larger display, but the Clevo W230ST is $500 cheaper (with comparable configurations) and is even easier to transport weighing 2 pounds less.

While the Clevo offers exceptional performance for its price point, the device is still likely not the best budget gaming rig on the market. That honor still belongs to the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P, which offers impressive graphics performance thanks to its dual NVidia GT 750M GPUs.

However, with a larger form factor and added weight, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P doesn’t offer the same portability. Users who want to game on the go without breaking the bank will be well served by the Clevo W230ST.

Pros:

  • Excellent Performance
  • Affordable
  • Easy to Transport

Cons:

  • Small Palm Rests
  • Fan is Consistently Loud
