Hinge of the W2v eliminates the ‘light gap’ on 99% of laptops. Nothing big but its cool! (view larger image)

The Hinges of the W2v is a very good reminder that, ASUS was the ODM for Powerbooks. The previous incarnation of the W2v, the W1n as well as the V6v also had this hinge, and it is a very attractive and cool style. It keeps the screen close to the body of the laptop, but it removes the avaliablity of the ports of the back. The Z83v on the other hand as a regular hinge, nothing special to mention.

The media keys on the W2v are placed right at the front, and located there is the very familiar LED’s every ASUS laptop has, the Power On/Suspend LED, the Battery Charging/low/full LED, HD Access LED, and Bluetooth LED. What is new is the Email LED, where it lights up if you get a new email! Also in the front are the Audio and Video jack, S/PDIF and headphones jack(stereo, also for front speakers), a microphone(mono) and center speaker/bass speaker jack, and a surround sound jack. Supports a 4.1 speaker system, so you don’t need to buy a extra sound card!

Also, on the two front sides, there are speakers. The jacks were a bit annoying, since they were at the front, and for those who used those jacks for their speakers, and A/V — it could get very messy and crowded there. On a side note, there is no physical latch, it is a magnetic latch — very neat.

Hotkeys located at the right side of the laptop. Internet browser, Check mail, Bluetooth, Touchpad and Power4Gear. Plus the mesmorizing blue power LED (view larger image)
