Verizon Rolls Out Global Ready Mobile Hotspot

Verizon Wireless today introduced the Fivespot, the first Global Ready 3G Mobile Hotspot. Customers can share their data connection with up to five WiFi-enabled devices such as notebooks and tablets.

The Fivespot comes with a SIM card which enables global data services in over 200 countries. Other features of the Fivespot include VPN support and a one-click on/off switch. The device weighs 2.82 oz. and measures 3.92″ x 2.11″ x 0.55″.

The Fivespot will be available on October 7 from Verizon Wireless for $99.99 with a new two-year service agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate. Service options start at $59.99 for a 5GB monthly data allowance; travelers can expect to pay $130 – $230/month. Prepaid plans are also available.
