Toshiba Updates Qosmio, Satellite Notebooks with WiMAX
Toshiba today announced select models in its Satellite, Qosmio, and Portege notebook lines will be available with 4G WiMAX technology. WiMAX is a wireless technology that provides fast Internet access to consumers on-the-go; it is available in 54 cities nationwide. Select Toshiba notebooks will include the technology.
The Satellite A665 is a 16-inch notebook available with Intel Core processors and optional Nvidia graphics. It features Toshiba’s new Fusion X2 styling. WiMAX will be available on the Satellite A665-S6086, Satellite A665-S6094, Satellite A665-S6097 Satellite A665-S6098 and the 3D-capable Satellite A665-3DV6 models; prices start at MSRP $804.99.
The Satellite M645 is a 14-inch entertainment notebook available with Intel Core processors. WiMAX will be available on the Satellite M645-S4063 and Satellite M645-S4070 models starting at MSRP $759.99.
The Portege R705 is a 13.3-inch ultraportable business notebook. It features Intel Core processors and Intel Wireless Display technology. The Porgege R705-P35 will be available with WiMAX for MSRP $899.99.
The Satellite E205 is an entry-level 14″ notebook featuring the Intel Core i5 processor and Nvidia GeForce G310M graphics with Nvidia Optimus graphics-switching technology. Other features include a backlit keyboard and Intel Wireless Display technology. The WiMAX-equipped E205-S1980 is available exclusively at Best Buy for MSRP $1,079.99.
In related news, Toshiba’s flagship multimedia notebook, the Qosmio X500 and X505, is now available with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M graphics card with 1.5GB of its own memory. This update supports DirectX 11 and Nvidia CUDA. Other features of the X500 include an 18.4-inch display, harman/kardon speakers, optional backlit keyboard and Blu-ray disc player, and dual hard drives or SSDs.
The X500 will be available on Sept. 26, 2010 for MSRP $1,299.99 at Amazon and ToshibaDirect.com.
