Toshiba Announces Highest Capacity Notebook HDD: 750GB

Toshiba today announced the world’s highest capacity 2.5″ hard drive with a standard 9.5mm height, the 750GB MK7559GSXP. The MK7559GSXP is a two-platter drive featuring a SATA II interface, 5400RPM rotational speed, and a max areal density of 541.4Gbit/in. The full specifications are as follows:

Toshiba also announced its MKxx59GSM series hard rives with 750GB and 1TB capacities. They are also 2.5″ hard drives however have a higher 12.5mm height, which means they will only fit in certain notebooks.
The MK7559GSXP is expected to ship in the third quarter while the MKxx59GSM drives are expected to ship this quarter.
