System76 Outs First Exclusively Linux ‘Sable Complete’ All-in-One
System76, fine purveyors of Linux-powered hardware, recently introduced their latest effort, an all-in-one desktop that runs the latest version of Ubuntu’s 12.10 Linux operating system. We’re not sure whether the new ‘Sable Complete’ is the world’s first Linux-oriented all-in-one, but it’s certainly one of the nicest Linux-only desktops that we’ve seen in quite a while.
The new system features a 21.5-inch, 1920×1080 resolution display, packed safely away behind a sheet of edge-to-edge glass. With a black frame and aluminum stand, it creates a fetching package. There’s more than a little resemblance of an iMac here, but all told, the company has done a solid job of customizing what is likely a whitebox solution.
Starting at just $799, the system regrettably packs in an older Intel Core i5 CPU that brings along the chipmaker’s anemic HD 2500 graphics. If you customize things, for just $160 so more, you can snag an Ivy Bridge Core i7, along with that CPU’s much, much better HD 4000 GPU.
