Sony VAIO C Series Notebooks Announced

Sony is on a release tear of late, this time they’re announcing the VAIO C series of notebooks.  The Sony VAIO C is a 13.3″ widescreen notebook available with a Core 2 Duo processor.  The VAIO C will be available in a variety of colors to fit an individuals style tastes.

The VAIO C will be available in the five following colors:

  • Seashell white
  • Blush pink
  • Spring green
  • Espresso black
  • Urban gray

Complementary colors frame the touchpad of the unit and accentuate the casings, while a dimpled texture adorns the palm rest of the PC.

The basic specs of the VAIO C are as follows:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor (T5500)
  • 13.3″ XBRITE-ECO LCD display
  • 802.11 a/b/g wireless
  • DVD R Double Layer/DVD RW/-RAM drive
  • Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro media slot
  • ExpressCard slot
  • i.LINKport (FireWire IEEE 1394)
  • 2 USB ports
  • Weight: 4.4 lbs – 6lbs
  • Integrated Intel graphics, except the black version which as an Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 graphics card
  • Up to 120GB hard drive
  • Optional integrated BlueTooth
  • Up to 2GB of memory

Essentially the VAIO C appears to be a VAIO SZ without a dedicated graphics card (except the high-end back version that has Nvidia Go 7400 graphics) and that does not use the same light weight sturdy casing.  The VAIO C is slated to start at about $1,350, cheaper than the VAIO SZ since it is slightly lower end.  However, for those that don’t need the dedicated graphics of the VAIO SZ and like a bit of color to spruce up design this could be a good option.  The VAIO C will begin selling via pre-order later today online and on in November.  Sony Style stores around the country should have the VAIO C by November also.  Example configurations can be seen on the Sony Europe site:
