Sonnet Builds a Portable Rackmount for Mac Minis

Sonnet Technologies has been trying to figure out a way to securely mount, maintain cool temperatures, and power on Apple Mac Mini computers – all while keeping the boxes racked up.

To that end, Sonnet has introduced their new RackMac Mac Mini rackmount. In a 1U rack space for home or office that has portable capabilities, Sonnet says the rackmount maintains cool airflow and that the front panel has slots for each Mac Mini’s power switch, USB port, DVD, IR sensor, and the power light indicator.

The rackmount can hold one or two Mac Minis per unit, is made of steel, and has a black finish. It’s able to hold each Mac Mini securely at just 11 inches deep and weighs in at 6.5 lbs.

Since the mount itself doesn’t weigh too much and has a padded built-in lock bar, the mount is transportable. There is also a cables/cords tie to help secure all of your Mac Mini cables.

Beyond it being steel, the mount itself also circulates heat and air generated by Mac Minis by ensuring that the air only goes one way into the mount and one way out, keeping it cool (into the front panel apertures and out of the back).

The RackMac mini mount does not require assembly. The exact dimensions are 17.0 x 11.0 x 1.7 inches and it is available now at an MSRP from Sonnet Technologies of $169.95.
