The Chameleon X-1, a new combination wireless gaming mouse and gamepad from accessory makers Shogun Bros., puts two popular gaming peripherals together in one unsuspecting form factor.
- Frequency: 2.4GHz
- Interface: USB 1.1
- Sampling rate: 125Hz
- Resolution: 400-1600 dpi (switchable)
- Weight: 115g
- Buttons – mouse: 7 + scrollwheel
- Buttons – gamepad: 14
The mouse looks almost identical to a typical Microsoft ambidextrous gaming mouse on top, replete with trim and white scroll wheel. Flip it over, however, and a hidden suite of buttons appears, ready to help bring the gaming controller back to the computer.
An optical sensor sits just above where the start and select buttons go, with the rest of the controller’s button selection sunken slightly into the body of the mouse…gamepad…mousepad? While the mouse follows a pretty tried-and-true form factor, the gamepad will force hands into an interesting new shape, and there’s no word yet as to how comfortable that shape will be.
Shogun Bros. says the Chameleon X-1 will be available early next year for just $55.
