Seagate Reveals Complete SSD Product Line

Seagate 600 SSDSeagate Technology on Tuesday took the wraps off its new portfolio of Solid State Drives (SSD). The company’s new line of SSD solutions includes its first client SSD and its next-generation enterprise-grade SSDs.

Seagate 600 SSD and 600 Pro SSD

The Seagate 600 will be available in multiple z-heights including an industry first 5mm-high, which is ideal for slim form factor devices such as ultrabooks. The new drive offers up to 480 GB of Storage and will comes in a 2.5-inch form factor with 6GB/s SATA interface.

In addition to the Seagate 600 the company also revealed its pro variant, which boasts the industry’s highest IOPS/watt helping to improve performance while simultaneously reduce power consumption. The Seagate 600 Pro will also be available with up 480 GB of storage and will offer a 2.5-inch form factor with a 6GB/s SATA interface.

Seagate 1200 SSD

The Seagate 1200 SSD is Seagate’s newest enterprise-grade storage solution. The drive will offer a dual port 12 GB/s SAS connector, providing up to 100 percent faster interface speeds over previous generations. The new drive will also house twice the I/O bandwidth for added reliability and the Seagate 1200 will offer backwards capability with 6 GB/s SAS environments. The Seagate 1200 will be available up to 800 GB of storage and will come in either a 1.8-inch or 2.5-inch form factor.

Seagate X8 Accelerator

In addition to its new SSDs Seagate also revealed the Seagate X8 Accelerator, a storage class PCle card. The new card will be powered by Virdent, allowing the PCle to offer all key interfaces including SATA and SAS solutions.

The new will boasts industry leading performance with up to 1.1 million IOPS, effectively making it up to two times faster than the closes competitor. The PCle will offer up to 2.2 TB of storage and the X8 PCI Express Gen-2 interface allows the device to deliver top-notch performance in database and virtualization; including applications such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Enterprise Server, MySQL, and VMware.
