Time Machine and the associated storage is one of the big pluses to Mac OS X; backing up critical data becomes easy and simple. Seagate has gone and introduced a similar product aimed at Windows users: the Seagate Replica.
The new Replica offers many of the same features as Apple’s Time Capsules, including multi-user backups, whole drive restoration and differential backing up, in which only files that have changed since the last scan are backed up, saving serious amounts of space. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as if the Replica supports network attached storage, which would be a huge boon to a multi-user household.
The drive does come in two models, a 250GB version of single users and a 500GB (with stand) for 2 or more. The new Replica units start at $200.
