Samsung announced the release of its 1TB internal hard disk drive yesterday, the Spinpoint M8. The hard drive has a 9.5mm (H) form factor to fit inside notebooks and consists of two 500GB platters.

The Spinpoint M8 has a 3Gbps SATA interface and 8MB of buffer memory. Features include EcoSeek and NoiseGuard, which Spinpoint M8 uses to lower its power consumption and to run quietly, respectively. According to Samsung, the redesigned drive uses the high-density advanced format technology (ADF), resulting in a seven percent increase in speed and and eight percent decrease in power.

The redesign has also seen a structrual enhancement to incorporate shock resistance and protection from data loss.

The high-density 1TB Samsung Spinpoint M8 hard drive is now available in the U.S. and Europe markets for an MSRP of $129.
