Rumor: new Mac Minis at Macworld

The current rumor floating around the internet is that Apple will be releasing new Mac Minis at the upcoming Macworld 2009.

The new Minis won’t look like the version currently on sale; they’re going to switch to the new scheme Apple’s using for the Macbook, with shiny black plastic and silver metal.  Moreover, the internal optical drive will be switched over to the new SATA standard.  This is a lot more important than it sounds; by going over to the new standard, users will be able to switch out the optical drive for a second drive, probably as custom order option.

It’s also possible we’ll see the graphics upgraded to the new NVIDIA 9400m chipset used in the recently updated Macbooks.  It’d be nice to see Apple really show some love to the Mini; as the cheapest Mac you can legally buy, it never seems to get the attention it deserves from the Cupertino giant.
