Today, San Francisco laptop bag company WaterField Designs announced their Rough Rider leather messenger bag. The bag, which will ship at the end of February, features a rustic look combined with clean lines that give it a throwback feel without sacrificing modernity.
Each bag is sewn on a 1940’s machine that leaves symmetric stitching on both the outside and inside of the bag using a thread that is almost ropelike in its strength, and finished by hand. The naturally-tanned leather will develop in color as it ages, much like a well-used armchair, adding personality to each bag. Buyers can choose one of six colored nylon accents under the flap to customize their bag.
The main compartment can hold a 13-inch laptop or tablet, and four other large pockets (two waxed canvas, two lined for safe screen storage) can hold chargers, smartphones, and other essential accessories. The adjustable strap system compresses the bag’s contents for added comfort, and a double-layered leather handle on top is both strong and low-profile so as not to distract from the bag’s style.
The $335 Rough Rider messenger bag is available now for preorder, and will begin shipping February 28, 2014.
