Ricoh Americas Corp. today unveiled a cost-effective printer that can print 42 high resolution color pages per minute from anywhere, as long as the hotspot is reached. The new laser printer by Ricoh is the Aficio SP C431DN-HS, or just the “color hotspot printer”. Ricoh ensures that it can process print jobs regardless of network connection type (private or public) and paid or free service.
Any mobile device that has a wireless internet connection can be used to set up a print job including: a tablet, notebook, or even a Wi-Fi enabled smartphone. Anyone who wants to print from it can; no drivers or USB cables are required to print.
Taking into account that this may cause security issues, Ricoh said that the laser printer provides “a secure, embedded solution,” referring to the option of setting up monitored access in addition to a required passcode the print job owner must enter. A one-year PrinterOn Mobile Printer Service subscription is also bundled with the Aficio SP C431DN-HS, which allows for users to print outside a firewall. The drivers and software are pre-loaded inside the printer itself.
