Razer Intros Own-Brand Gaming Notebook

Razer has made a surprising announcement – it will be selling its own gaming notebook. Featuring a 17.3″ display, an 0.88″ thin aluminum chassis, and a 7 lb weight, it will be available at the end of this year.

The Blade features Razer’s “Switchblade User Interface”, which consists of 10 tactile keys for easier access to in-game commands and an LCD with two modes: one that displays in-game information when a mouse is plugged in and another mode that makes it function as a multi-touch panel for gaming on the go.

The Blade’s specifications include the latest Intel Core i7 processor (dual-core i7-2640M 2.8GHz), 8GB of RAM, a 17.3-inch 1080p display, an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M graphics card w/ 2GB GDDR5 video memory, a 320GB 7200RPM drive, and an HD webcam. With its integrated 60Wh battery, it weighs 6.97 lbs and measures 16.81 x 10.9 x 0.88 inches.

The 320GB 7200RPM drive seems out of place, however it is likely Razer is using a 7mm slim hard drive instead of a standard 9.5mm height drive.
Pricing and Availability
The Razer Blade will be available Q4 2011 for $2,799.99.
