Plextor Showcases SSDs at CES
The Plextor PX-M2S Solid State Drive is the newest SSD from Plextor and features a SATA 6Gb/s interface as well as a 128 MB DDR cache buffer. The new drive also features an “instant restore” function and dynamic wear leveling to maintain data transfer performance and extend the life span of the drive.
Much like the Kingston SSDnow V-series drives, the Plextor PX-M2S comes bundled with Acronis True Image software enabling you to easily clone your original hard drive to the SSD and swap out that slow hard drive for something faster.
The Plextor SSD uses a Marvell controller (88SS9174) and Toshiba NAND flash. Plextor representatives ran a demo unit of the PX-M2S through several rounds of the CrystalDiskMark benchmark to highlight the data transfer speeds of their newest drive.
The PX-M2S supports the Windows 7 TRIM command and is available in 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB capacities.
