Holographic storage technology? We don’t need no holographic storage technology.  Pioneer’s new BDXL Blu-ray burner, the BDR-206MBK, writes up to 128GB of data on a single four-layer Blu-ray BDXL disc.  All this technology fits into a single 5.25-inch drive bay and costs a cent less than $200.

Pioneer added a couple of special technologies to the new BDXL burner, including a vibration stabilizer to keep discs from warping under the scribing laser.  Each BDR-206MBK ships with a single 100GB Blu-ray disc and a copy of CyberLink’s burning software, which supports quad-layer Blu-ray recording.

The drive is available now from Pioneer and Fry’s Electronics for $199.99.
