Palit released a new 4870X2 with a few interesting features that comes overclocked from the factory. The new Radeon HD 4870X2 “Revolution 700 Deluxe” features a 4870X2 with a three-slot cooling system and four different video out ports.
Despite what Palit said in their press release, this is certainly not the first factory overclocked 4870X2 to hit the scene. While the overclocking itself is fairly minor (the GPU is a standard 750MHz while the GDDR5 has been upped slightly to 3800MHz), it is interesting that Palit decided to go with a three-slot solution. The new 4k-series cards from ATI have been notoriously hot, and the three-slot, dual-fan cooling system should go some ways toward alleviating that issue. Palit does recommend a minimum of a 650W power supply with this thing.
What I find more interesting about the card is that it features four different video out ports – dual-link DVI, HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort. If nothing else, you’ll be able to hook just about any display up to this video card. That’s a handy thing, considering you’re not going to have any room in your case for another card if you put this monstrosity in there.
