OKI Data Americas announced the addition of a white toner cartridge to its series of desktop A4 digital color printers to facilitate CMYW four-color configuration for printing on transfer media.

The C711WT (white toner), scheduled for availability in November, replaces the black toner cartridge and image drum, according to the company.

The new white toner cartridge lets users print color-plus-white on transfer sheets that can be used with a wide variety of substrates and eliminates the need for screen print to get white lettering or graphics.

The new product targets a niche market that is looking to grow its in-house printing capabilities with HD color output in a cost effective manner. In particular, the C711WT prints on a variety of transfer media making it especially suitable for output for garments and hard goods.

The C711WT handles a wide range of transfer media sizes and weights, from letter and legal-size to postcards and CD labels. Transfer media and sheets up to 140lb index are fed into the unit’s 100-sheet multipurpose tray.

For everyday printing, the C711WT has a 530-sheet paper cassette and prints in color plus black through a mix of cyan, magenta and yellow toner.

The new product offers color print speeds of up to 8 pages per minute (ppm) on transfer media and up to 34 ppm on standard media.

The debut of the C711WT will take place in TheMagicTouch booth at the 2012 SGIA Expo in Las Vegas, NV on October 18-20. TheMagicTouch is a solution provider and pioneer in the digital image transfer business.
