We’ve always been satisfied when reviewing OCZ’s drives in the past. Now comes a reportedly even faster drive from the memory maker that builds on the experiences delivered by their original Vertex drives. The OCZ Vertex Limited Edition uses the still relevant SATA 3Gbps standard instead of going next-gen, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fast.
It’s still MLC flash, but OCZ is pulling every bit of performance they can out of those cells. Read speeds max out at 270MB/s and write speeds are just behind at 250MB/s. In 4K random write tests, the company is claiming 15,000 IOPS. It supports TRIM with Windows 7, but since it’s a limited edition, it won’t be a permanent part of the company’s lineup. Shipping for a limited window, the drive will come in two versions: 100GB, at $399.99 and 200GB, at $829.99.
