Are you ready for the next generation in home office printing?  Objet has released a desktop printer that prints 3D models as easy as a photo.

The Alaris30 Desktop 3D features Objet’s PolyJet Photopolymer Jetting technology allowing users to create “true-to-life parts… as simply, cost effectively and precisely as you design them.”

The Alaris30 is network enabled so that multiple users in an office or classroom can send files or designs to be printed.  It uses an 11.81” x 7.87” x 5.9” build tray to create large models and/or small parts at the same time, a four-cartridge system for 36 hours of unattended printing and offers a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi.

The models – according to Objet – are smoothly surfaced and finely detailed and are ideal of painting, fit and form testing or vacuum forming.

The most interesting thing about the Alaris30 is that it is only 32.25” x 33.85” x 40.94” and will fit on most desks.

There is no information about the price of the Alaris30 on Objet’s website but according to a few tech gadget sites (Boing Boing, Gizmodo) it may be retailing for as much as $40,000.
