While NVIDIA’s GTX 480 was the first high-end video card from Team Green to feature their nex-generation Fermi chips, the new GeForce GTX 580 is out to make sure they stay competitive in the gaming market.

  • GPU frequency: 772MHz
  • CUDA cores: 512
  • Memory: 1.5GB GDDR5 graphics memory (4GHz effective rate)
  • Memory bandwidth: 192.4 GBps
  • TDP: 244W
NVIDIA is claiming that the new cards can beat out the former GTX 480 by twenty percent or more; apparently, NVIDIA’s claims of the GTX 580 being the world’s new fastest DirectX 11 GPU aren’t too far from the mark.  For those looking to upgrade their gaming rigs, customers can now buy the 580 at the previous flagship price of $499.
