There has been some consternation between big green and the boys at Intel lately, and it all comes down to licensing over chipsets and the availability of NVIDIA’s multi-GPU effort, SLI. Now, Intel’s high-end Core i7 chipset, the x58, has been able to take advantage of SLI since its release back in November on last year. So that’s nothing new. What is, however, is the fact that this deals with the P55 chipset, which is completely mainstream and shouldn’t be anywhere near as expensive. That means that even frugal gamers should be able to take part in the SLI madness if they want. Though frugal gamers probably wouldn’t buy two video cards in the first place.
