Nvidia completes Ageia acquisition

Nvidia has completed its acquisition of Ageia, makers of the PhysX physics processing units. The Ageia name is almost completely gone; even the software technology is now titled “PhysX by Nvidia”, and the firm’s website has disappeared.

Physics processing units were once thought to be the “next big thing,” but have failed to materialize, especially after ATI and Nvidia announced the physics processing could be done on graphics cards.
