Next-Gen Atom to Handle HD Decoding
Intel’s next-generation Atom processor, dubbed Pine Trail, will be able to handle HD video decoding in conjunction with a Broadcom graphics chip. The Broadcom graphics chip is small and consumes less than 1W of power while decoding 1080p video. It will support H.264 and other video formats and be compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7. Unfortunately no hardware acceleration is available for Flash-based HD videos, so netbook users will still not be able to run those.
