Dell introduces PRODUCT Red Artwork for Studio notebooks

Dell today introduced PRODUCT Red artwork for its Studio line of notebooks. The laptops can be customized with artwork from three artists. With each purchase of a Studio notebook with PRODUCT Red artwork, a $20 contribution will be made to The Global Fund from Dell to help fund AIDS programs in Africa.

Notebook makers may reduce production volume
According to a DigiTimes report, notebook makers will reduce production volume of notebooks if sales are not strong enough at the beginning of the holiday shopping season at the end of November. Makers are taking a number of precautions to avoid inventory buildup.

Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for the ASUS U6V-B1 Bamboo notebook. The U6V-B1 is a 12.1-inch ultraportable is covered in bamboo per the name, and has the following specifications for $1,999:

Fujitsu-Siemens introduces AMILO MINI netbook

Fujitsu-Siemens has introduced a netbook of its own, the AMILO MINI UI 3520.  Notable features of the 3520 include changeable clip-on covers that allow the end user to change the look of their machine, integrated WLAN, and a silent mode that turns off the fan. It has typical notebook specifications, including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 270 processor, Windows XP Home, an 8.9-inch WSVGA display, Intel GMA 950 graphics, 60 or 80GB of hard drive space, and 1GB RAM.

The going price is 399 Euros, or about US$588.
