HP introduces EliteBook 2530p and 2730p notebooks

HP has introduced two rugged notebooks with MIL-STD 810F (tested for dust, altitude, and high temperature) certifications, the 2530p notebook and 2730p convertable tablet. Both machines are based on the Intel Centrino 2 platform and come with Low Voltage (LV) or Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processors.

Acer cuts Aspire One netbook price

Acer today announced a $50 price cut for its Aspire One netbook. The Acer Aspire One with Windows XP Home is now only $349, with the Linpus Linux Lite version going for $329. An Aspire One with a six-cell battery is $399.

The base Aspire One features an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and a three-cell battery. The upgraded version with the six-cell battery also features a larger 160GB hard drive.

The Acer Aspire One is available now through authorized Acer resellers nationwide.

External slim DVD burners selling fast

According to a DigiTimes report, external slim DVD burners offered by various companies have been selling fast due to tremendous growth in the netbook market. Netbooks such as the ASUS Eee PC do not have built-in optical drives.
