After much speculation and plenty of leaked information on the web, Toshiba today announced the expansion of the Qosmio line of multimedia and gaming notebooks. The new Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55 offer unique styling and some impressive features. Let’s take a quick look.

Toshiba Qosmio G55

The Qosmio G55 is the first laptop to incorporate a "parallel media co-processor" (the Cell processor co-developed by Toshiba, Sony and IBM for the PlayStation 3). This time Toshiba is calling it the "Toshiba Quad Core HD Processor", but the bottom line for consumers is that you get greater speed for multimedia tasks like transcoding video. The Qosmio G55 also features up to 500GB of hard drive storage space, and is the first laptop from Toshiba to include an 18.4-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite (glossy) high-definition display. The primary benefit of the 18.4" display over the traditional 17.1" displays is that the new, larger LCD natively supports the true 16:9 image ratio used for widescreen HD movies.

Toshiba Qosmio X305

Toshiba’s Qosmio X305 is an impressive gaming system with a traditional 17.1-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite high-definition display. The X305 continues the legacy of the much-loved X205 and is packed with NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX dedicated graphics with up to 1GB VRAM graphics memory, dual hard drives with up to 400GB of total storage space, as well as DDR3 system RAM.

Of course, the nice feature set creates a great gaming machine but the other big news here is the redesign of the Qosmio brand chassis and the unique "red-flamed Rogue" design and Fusion finish used on the new X305. This certainly doesn’t look like a boring old notebook.

Toshiba Qosmio F55

For those of you who don’t want a massive 17-inch or 18-inch desktop replacement notebook, the Qosmio F55 with its 15.4-inch widescreen TruBrite display is a welcome addition to the Qosmio family. The F55 offers both mobility and solid gaming performance thanks to NVIDIA GeForce 9700 GTS dedicated graphics. The other item of note with the F55 is that the laptop features a built-in GPS receiver and Garmin mapping software. The Qosmio F55 doesn’t require an internet connect to help you find your way since the built-in GPS system instantly provides your exact location and turn-by-turn directions to your destination.

Overall, the new Qosmio notebooks also feature "REGZA LINK HDMI" technology that lets you control and REGZA LINK enabled devices, such as Toshiba’s REGZA HDTVs and the Qosmio laptop with a single remote.

Each new Qosmio model will be available later this summer at retail stores nationwide in the US and available directly from Toshiba at Additional information is available at the Toshiba website.
