by Reads (61,466)

Samsung Electronics today announced the Series 7, a thin and light laptop line offering the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, AMD graphics, and the promise of up to 9 hours of battery life. Packed inside an aluminum chassis, the Series 7 looks to be a stylish yet powerful notebook for consumers and business professionals alike.

Judge This Notebook By Its Cover
The Series 7 is wrapped in a brushed-aluminum body that is less than one-inch thick with a thin bezel screen that maximizing the screen real estate with saacrificing portability. In fact, the 14-inch version of the Samsung Series 7 has a foot print similar to a typical 13-inch laptop.

The 14-inch or 15.6-inch HD+ (1600 x 900) high resolution, matte display (someone FINALLY got the message about annoying glossy screens) features 16 million colors and up to 50 percent better brightness (300 nit) and is powered by an AMD Radeon HD 6750M or 6490M graphics card. Together, these features should deliver an enjoyable visual experience whether inside or outdoors viewing everything from corporate presentations to the latest games.

New Processors, New Ways To Get Work Done
The heart of the new Series 7 is the Intel Core i5 or the Intel CoreT i7 processor with ExpressCache, a technology which accelerates boot-up and start times. ExpressCache uses an extra 8GB of flash memory on the motherboard to deliver faster Windows start-up as well as faster overall performance while multitasking. Samsung also claims that web browsing with Microsoft Internet Explorer is up to 50-60 percent quicker than laptops without ExpressCache.

These notebooks will also feature Samsung’s “FastStart” technology, which enables the laptop to transition from a hybrid sleep mode to full functionality in as little as two seconds. Samsung’s “Quick Boot” feature should also help the notebook start-up from a completely powered down state in just 19 seconds.

With a claim of up to nine hours of battery life**, the Series 7 promises all day connectivity while on-the-go. The Samsung “Power Plus” technology incorporated inside the 6-cell Lithium Polymer battery means that the Series 7 battery should retain 80 percent of the original battery capacity for up to 1,500 charges.

Pricing and Availability
The Samsung Series 7 notebooks will be available in the US starting October 2, 2011. Models will retail for between $999 and $1,299. For a full list of retailers, call 1-800-SAMSUNG or visit www.samsung.com.
