LaCie’s line of unique external hard drives just got a new addition: the LaCie Mirror, a 1 TB drive completely encased in scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. The French company has always pushed the designs of its hardware, and the Mirror is among its most striking work yet.
For the Mirror, LaCie sought the help of acclaimed French designer and artist Pauline Deltour. The drive sits in an ebony wood base designed by Makassar as well. Because of the richly colored and individually crafted wood base, each piece can be considered unique. This may be the only one-of-a-kind external hard drive.
So when is this piece of crafted hardware hitting the market? LaCie claims that the Mirror will first be available in late January, although “wider availability” is promised for later this year. But if you want to store your data in style, you’ll have to pay a relatively hefty price: The Mirror will list at a suggested retail price of $279.99.
