New Gateway and eMachines Notebooks Announced

Gateway bought out eMachines a couple of months ago but they’re not converged enough yet to have merged all of their product lines.  This is demonstrated by the fact both brands announced and released new notebooks during the past week that actually compete with one another.  In particular, the eMachines M2352 budget noteboook is a desktop replacement with similar specs to the brand new Gateway M520 notebook.  The eMachines M6810 and M6811 AMD 64-bit powered multimedia notebooks and the Gateway M320 thin-and-light notebook were also announced this week.

New eMachines Notebooks: M2352, M6810, M6811

The eMachines M6810 and M6811 have been available in stores for a short amount of time now, so we knew about them, but Gateway (the new owner of eMachines) waited until Wednesday to actually announce them.  The M2352 is a budget laptop with 15.4-inch widescreen display, 60GB hard drive, 802.11g wireless, DVD-ROM/CD burner, Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M processor 3000+ (2.2GHz) and 512MB of RAM expandable to 768MB.  The M6811/M6810 both feature Mobile AMD 64 processors, the M6810 has the 3200+ processor while the M6811 has the faster 3400+ processor.  Both machines have 512MB of RAM expandable to 1.2GB, 802.11g Wi-Fi built-in, 15.4-inch widescreen display, ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 with 64MB RAM, 6-in-1 memory card reader.  The M6811 has a DVD-burner/CD-burner and 80GB hard drive while the M6810 is just DVD/CD-burner and a 60GB hard drive.
