Coinciding with this week’s North American launches for the company’s latest Galaxy Note II flagship smartphone, Samsung unveiled an all-new ‘Smart Dock’. The Smart Dock, composed of a stylish white high-impact plastic, cradles your expansive Galaxy Note II while dramatically expanding on its port selection.
One side offers users a pair of USB 2.0 ports, with a third across the way. There’s also a dedicated speaker and line out functionality on the rear of the device, as well as a full-sized HDMI video-out port. With the new additions, you can hook up an external keyboard and mouse, speaker set and even a full-sized monitor. Basically, your phone becomes a small desktop that fits in the palm of your hand.
To add all this new functionality, you’ll have to pony up an addition hundred bucks to Samsung. For many, though, it might be worth it – if most of your home computer usage comprises email, web browsing, and Facebook, it becomes a simple and attractive – if pricey – solution.
