MobileDemand First to Introduce Windows 8 Rugged Tablet PC

xTablet T1200MobileDemand announced late last month that it will launch the Windows 8 xTablet T1200 Rugged Tablet PC. The new tablet will boast best-in-class military specs and is set to be the world’s first fully rugged tablet PC.

The xTablet T1200 will offer a multi-touch resistant 10.4-inch LCD display, with an Intel i5-3527U Ivy Bridge processor with up to 16GB of RAM, and will run on either Windows 8 or Windows 7 Professional operating system. The new tablet will come equipped with an mSATA sold state drive offering anywhere form 64GB to 256GB of storage; users will also be able to further expand their storage capacities with an additional hard disk drive option.

The xTablet T1200 will come equipped with 5 megapixel rear and front-facing cameras, integrated GPS, a smart card reader, 2 USB 3.0 ports and a RS-323 serial. The device will be Ethernet enabled and will offer 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. The rugged tablet will also sport a 6-cell swappable battery, which (according to MobileDemand) has recorded 10-hours of real-world use with a single charge.

Besides offering an impressive spec lineup, the xTablet T1200 will offer an impressive 3-year warranty backing up the rugged tablet. For consumers who want additional protection, MobileDemand will offer extended coverage with its xProtect service plan, providing users with extended protection and a quick 3-day turnaround time.

Pricing and Availability

To get access to the unique mix of performance and protection that the xTablet T1200 provides, consumers will have to cough up a pretty penny, as the device currently lists an MSRP starting at $3,000. The device is currently available for order with limited availability, with full production set to begin in January 2013.
