Microsoft to Open Retail Stores

Microsoft has confirmed that it plans to open retail stores, where it will sell computers pre-loaded with the company’s software and other items. The company Thursday announced it hired 25-year veteran of Wal-Mart, David Porter, to help improve the PC buying experience. He will start off by choosing locations for the stores and designing them. Microsoft’s goal of the retail stores is to improve its brand image; its recent operating system, Vista, has been subject to a lot of negative press since its release in early 2007.
