Microsoft extends life of XP for low-cost “nettops”

Microsoft announced at Computex Taipei 2008 that it is extending its Windows XP offer to low-cost desktops, or “nettops”.

The market for low-cost computers including netbooks like the ASUS Eee PC has seen huge growth over the last year. Microsoft and its partners have developed an interest in this market and Microsoft in response plans to offer Windows. Windows has become increasingly popular on the ASUS Eee PC.

Microsoft says it is working with over 20 OEMs to bring Windows-based devices to market.
