Memjet Technologies announced earlier this morning that it has partnered with three original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to use its high speed printhead technology in several new home and office products in overseas markets.
Lenovo in China, WeP in India and Kpowerscience in Taiwan are the first of three partners planning on using the high-density printer in new products they’ll produce in their respective markets.
The technology revolves around more than 70,000 ink nozzles on a single compact printhead, “17 times that of traditional printheads” according to Memjet. The printhead is less than nine inches wide but can still putout more than 700 million drops of ink per second, allowing customers to print a full color document in a second or 60 pages per minute with a resolution of 1600 x 1600 DPI.
Memjet also offers custom 32 bit RISC controllers for their OEM partners including a 648 MHz processor, built-in networking and USB connectivity, a user interface and motor control elements and a software development kit.
So when will the Memjet technology be available in products in the US market? Memjet Technologies hopes to announce new OEM partnerships by the end of the first half 2011.
